World Pool unveiled as new official betting partner for Cazoo Derby Day at Epsom Downs

Thursday 20th May 2021

The Jockey Club is pleased to announce the Tote and World Pool will become the official betting partner for Cazoo Derby Day at Epsom Downs on Saturday 5th June 2021.

This is the first time World Pool has been promoted via such a partnership in Great Britain and will include the sponsorship of two races on the card.

The partnership marks a step change in the Tote and Hong Kong Jockey Club’s promotion of World Pool across British racing. It follows the news that British racing will benefit from 17 World Pool racedays in 2021, including three at Jockey Club racecourses.

World Pool ensures there are larger and deeper pools to bet into, driving an increase in value for customers as racing fans from around the world bet into a single pool.

Racing fans in the UK will be able to bet into the pool via the Tote’s website (tote.co.uk), the Tote App and on course on Saturday 5th June for racegoers attending Epsom Downs for the 242nd running of the world’s greatest Flat race. All pools open on the Tote’s website from 4pm the day before racing.

“This partnership will heighten the global appeal of the world’s greatest Flat race still further and highlight to racing fans all over the world the exciting opportunities and betting experience that World Pool can provide.”

Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges, Chief Executive Officer of the Hong Kong Jockey Club, said: “This is another important step forward and we are delighted to be working with the Tote and The Jockey Club to showcase World Pool to racing fans around the world on Cazoo Derby Day. The Derby is a hugely popular race with Hong Kong residents who appreciate the unique role it plays in the heritage of our global sport.

“With 17 World Pool days on the best British race meetings this summer we look forward to continuing to work with all in British racing to refine, develop and promote World Pool in the months and years ahead.”

John Williamson, Chairman of the UK Tote Group, said: “It is enormously exciting to have World Pool, with the Tote, as the Official Betting Partner for Cazoo Derby Day. The Derby continues to be the most prestigious Flat race in the world and this partnership provides a fantastic opportunity to showcase the event to an international audience, thereby helping to increase betting turnover and the profile of the entire race day.”
