As the stewards of the Tote, we are putting responsibility at the heart of everything we do.
That means being a betting company that does three key things: protects customers; supports British horseracing; and makes a contribution to the success of the country by investing in our UK employees and building our international reach.
We are at the start of our journey to turn the Tote into a global British success story with responsibility at the core, and we know we do not have all the answers.
So, we will always listen to our customers and seek advice from expert partners and others who can help the Tote become the most sustainable and responsible modern betting company it can be.

1) Safer Betting for our customers
Safer betting is a priority for any responsible betting operator. Through dialogue with stakeholders and learning from independent research, as well as customers, policymakers and technologists, we plan to develop and constantly improve the Tote’s commitment to safer betting.

2) Supporting British horseracing
The Tote has a unique connection with horseracing and the sport will always remain our priority. We pay the Horserace Betting Levy and in addition, via our commercial agreement with racecourses, we will invest a minimum of £50 million into British racing over the next 7 years - our ambition is for this to eventually be much more as we grow the business. We are constantly engaging with the horseracing industry about how we can be the best possible partner to the sport we love.
3) Contributing to UK Plc
We are proud to operate a historic British institution, based wholly in the UK, and want to ensure that the Tote continues to invest in our country and its people. We have our headquarters in Wigan, with a second office in London and are expanding our passionate and talented team. We are investing in apprenticeships along with wider training and development opportunities to help create a great British company which is successful on the international stage.
