  • Chief Marketing Officer, Head of Partnerships and Head of Compliance appointed to the team

The Together for the Tote team is delighted to announce several new senior appointments to support the company’s ambitious plans for the Tote.

Rob Painter joins this month as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). Rob brings over 20 years of experience having most recently been at Sky Betting and Gaming (SBG) where he had a dual role as Managing Director for People and Brand. 

He was responsible for pioneering marketing and brand communications for SBG. Rob oversaw all external marketing communications for the SBG product portfolio and was an active participant on industry safer gambling marketing initiatives. He was part of the leadership team which enjoyed market beating growth year-on-year, as well as establishing SBG as the most popular online betting brand in the UK today. 

At SBG Rob shaped the distinct culture where headcount grew rapidly to over 1,500 people, adding 1,000 in just over three years. Under Rob’s leadership SBG achieved regular recognition at industry awards including the Sunday Times ‘Best Companies to Work For’ and Glassdoor ‘Best Places to Work’.

Prior to SBG Rob worked for News UK which includes Marketing Directorships of The Sun, The Times and Sunday Times. 

In addition, Danielle (Dani) Johnson will start in October as Head of Partnerships. Dani joins the Tote team from William Hill where she is responsible for service across the company’s shop estate. With over 17 years in the gambling sector she brings a wealth of experience in customer operations and technology delivery in an omni channel environment.  Dani will be responsible for managing the Tote’s relationship with key partners, including racecourses.

Both Rob and Dani will report into Mark Kemp who starts as UK Managing Director on 1st October.

Alexandra (Ali) Marsh has been appointed Head of Compliance. Prior to joining the Tote team, Ali headed up compliance at the London operation of an international Wealth Management firm.  Before that, Ali worked in private practice at a City law firm and in-house at N.M Rothschild & Sons, having obtained a Law Degree at the University of Warwick.
